Promise was made 16 years ago
Seeing this scene, everyone’s eyes became moist. In place of the father, 26 soldiers were standing with the bride and performing all the rituals. Kanwarpal Singh of Kutina village told his colleagues 16 years ago that whenever his daughter gets married, they all must come, after which the soldiers also promised their Subedar to come to his daughter’s wedding and fulfilled it by attending the wedding.
He was martyred in 2009
All the soldiers attended the daughter’s wedding on March 6 as a part of the family. He took the bride’s palanquin to the stage like his own daughter. After this, he also performed different rituals and bid farewell to the daughter. Kanwarpal Singh was posted in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2009, where he got information about terrorist infiltration. During the operation in dense fog, the terrorists started firing. Another Subedar Rakesh Singh was injured in the attack, to save whom Kanwarpal Singh took the front. He killed many terrorists, but was martyred in it.
