Kota: A JEE aspirant committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Rajasthan’s Kota. He was scheduled to appear for the JEE-Main exam on April 2, police said on Monday. This is the tenth case of suspected suicide by coaching students in Kota since January. Deputy Superintendent of Police (GRP-Kota) Shankar Lal said that Ujjwal Mishra, a native of Kanpur, was to go to Lucknow, where he was allotted a centre to take the engineering entrance exam. His father Deepak Kumar Mishra was scheduled to reach Kota on Monday to take him and his luggage back to Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Committed suicide by lying in front of train

Police said that Ujjwal was preparing for JEE in a coaching institute here and lived in a hostel in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area. The DSP said that on Sunday the boy left his hostel room at around 6.30 pm and reached Kota railway station. According to the loco pilot, when the boy saw the train coming, he lay down on the tracks and came under the train around 7 pm. The pilot immediately informed the Government Railway Police about the incident and said that he was unable to stop the train on time due to high speed. No suicide note was recovered from the boy.

Was not ready for the exam

The father, who was present outside the mortuary after taking the body of his son, said that Ujjwal was an average student. He never told that he was in trouble nor did he show any kind of trouble. The DSP said that on Sunday evening, Ujjwal spoke to his classmate (who lives in the hostel opposite to his) and told that he was not fully prepared for the examination on April 2. Police said that the body was handed over to the father after the post-mortem on Monday afternoon. He said that a case has been registered.
