Godhuram, a resident of Balotara in Rajasthan, took off his army uniform and became a smuggler in the greed of luxury. He started smuggling opium from Manipur to Delhi along with his girlfriend. Then he was finally caught. The Special Cell of Delhi Police exposed this conspiracy. It is being told that this constable named Godhuram was posted in Kutch, Gujarat. In February 2024, he came home on leave, but did not return. During this time he met smuggler Bhagirath, whose pomp and show distracted Godhuram. Then what happened was that a simple soldier took off his uniform and jumped into the world of smuggling.
There was a risk for Godhuram to smuggle alone, so he offered his girlfriend Devi to work with him and she agreed. With his girlfriend with him, she would accompany him everywhere, whether he had to stay somewhere during the journey, dodge the police…. In return, Devi used to get 50 thousand rupees along with a free trip. On July 7, the Delhi Police Special Cell got an input that a car was coming from Manipur to Kalindi Kunj, which had a huge amount of opium. The car was stopped and checked. During this, the police could not believe what they saw. In fact, 18 packets of opium and a licensed pistol were recovered from the car. The three people present in the car, Army constable Godhuram, his girlfriend Devi and companion Peeraram were taken into custody by the police.
Big revelation in interrogation
Police interrogation revealed that opium was purchased from a supplier named Ramesh Maiti in Manipur for Rs 23 lakh. Eight kilos were to be sent to Delhi and 10 kilos to Jodhpur. For this, he used to get three lakh rupees for every trip. He told that after Bhagirath’s arrest, he started working for a smuggler named Shravan Vishnoi.
Police engaged in investigation
At present, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested all three. The police has produced them in the court and taken them on remand. Many names related to drug abuse are on the police radar. The police is investigating the matter. However, it is not yet clear whether the army has taken action against Godhuram or not.
