The coming two days are going to be very difficult in Rajasthan. The State Petrol Pump Association has announced a strike. According to which petrol pumps in the state will remain closed for the next two days. This strike has been started from 6 am on Sunday, March 10. Due to the strike for the next 48 hours, people will not be able to buy and sell diesel and petrol. This strike of petrol pump operators is being done demanding reduction in VAT (Value Added Tax) rates.
This strike, starting from 6 am on March 10, will continue till 6 am on March 12. During this period, it has been announced that 6827 petrol pumps in the state will be closed. Association President Rajendra says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had guaranteed to reduce VAT but despite the PM’s guarantee, the Rajasthan government has not reduced VAT on petrol and diesel. Nor did the oil companies increase the dealer commission.
The meeting was held on March 8
A meeting of Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association was held on March 8 regarding this issue. In which presidents, secretaries and RPDA executive members of all the districts were present. During this, discussions were held on not reducing VAT on petrol and diesel, not increasing dealer commission by oil companies for the last 7 years and forced supply of lube oil and premium products.
Announcement of ‘No Purchase No Sale’ strike
Under the strike of Petrol Pump Association, petroleum dealers in the state will neither buy nor sell any fuel. The association also says that a demonstration will also be held in Jaipur on Monday, March 11. During this time, all the dealers from Statue Circle to Secretariat will take out a silent rally. Rajasthan Petrol Dealers Association Treasurer Sandeep Bageria says that “No Purchase No Sale” strike has been announced for the next 48 hours.
Diesel and petrol are cheaper in neighboring states
An official of the association says that BJP had raised this issue during the elections but till now no discussion has taken place on it even though the government was formed in December. The officer also said that diesel-petrol is cheap in Rajasthan’s neighboring states Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh but is expensive in Rajasthan.
