Rampur Milak: In Milak area of Rampur district, a Dalit youth died and two people were injured due to gunshot in a clash between two parties over the installation of hoarding with the picture of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar met the family of the deceased and attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the incident. He demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s family and a job to a family member.
The family members of the youth killed in the incident protested by placing the dead body under Ambedkar’s portrait. Their allegation was that the youth died due to police firing. As soon as the information was received, top officials of the police and administration reached the village and pacified the family members who were adamant on demanding action against the policemen and sent the body to the district hospital for post-mortem.
Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh, who reached the spot, told reporters on Wednesday that people of Dalit community had prepared a pit for making fertilizer on a plot of land in Silai Bada village of Milak police station area. A few days ago, they filled the pit and placed Ambedkar’s hoarding on it and started preparations for installing the statue.
