Former Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) chief Pashupati Paras, who has been in the news for his warm relationship with the NDA, made a big announcement on Monday. Pashupati Paras said that he is separating from the NDA. He made this announcement on Monday at the Sankalp Sammelan organized by the party in the capital.
Pashupati Paras founded RLJP in 2021, rebelling against the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founded by his late brother Ram Vilas Paswan. He announced his party’s separation from the NDA at the Sankalp Sammelan organized by RLJP in Patna on the occasion of BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
Announcement of separation from NDA
On this occasion, Pashupati Paras also demanded Bharat Ratna for Ram Vilas Paswan, calling him the second Ambedkar. Paras said that I have been with the NDA since 2014. But, today I announce that from now on my party will have no relationship with the NDA. Pashupati Paras said among his party supporters and leaders that we are separating from NDA from today.
We will no longer have any relationship with NDA. We will join the alliance that gives us respect. However, he also said that he will tour all 243 seats in the state and when the time comes, he will decide what to do.
Nitish government is anti-Dalit
He also targeted the state government. He said that Nitish government is anti-Dalit. No work is done without corruption. In Aurangabad, the son of a worker of LJP Ram Vilas ran over Komal Paswan with a car. Till date the government has not done anything. Incidents of murder and robbery are happening every day in Bihar.
Injustice with Muslim brothers
He said that now we will tour the whole of Bihar. He appealed to his supporters to change the power in Bihar. Pashupati Paras also put forth his views on the Waqf Bill. He said that injustice has been done to Muslim brothers. We oppose this bill. On liquor ban, he said that there is liquor ban in Bihar but we do not oppose it, but the poor people who are in jail, my demand is that they should be released.
He also said that there is a ban on toddy for the Pasi community, it should be lifted. On this occasion, apart from RLSP party’s national president former Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, former MP Prince Paswan, Parliamentary Board President Suraj Bhan Singh and many other party leaders and workers were present.
Resignation from the post of Union Minister
Pashupati Paras resigned from the post of Union Minister before the Lok Sabha elections last year, when his nephew Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) was allotted five seats to contest as a constituent of the NDA and the party candidates were victorious on all these seats.
The seats that LJP (RV) got included the Hajipur seat, known as Ram Vilas Paswan’s stronghold, from which Paras was elected Lok Sabha member in 2019. Currently, this seat is represented by Chirag Paswan, who is also a Union Minister.
RLSP’s claim sidelined
Despite being ignored in the NDA, Pashupati Paras tried to maintain a strong position in the alliance by meeting other top leaders including BJP President JP Nadda. However, during the by-elections held on five assembly seats in the state last year, the NDA sidelined RLSP’s claim on one seat. Not only this, the potential candidate of RLSP joined the BJP, which gave the ticket to his son.
Apart from this, the state government vacated the bungalow from which Paras was running his party and allotted it to Chirag Paswan. Paras had severed ties with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2020 assembly elections, disapproving of his nephew’s rebellion against him.
Attack on Nitish government
At the RLJP event, Paras accused Nitish of being anti-Dalit and claimed that after visiting 22 out of 38 districts, he has realized that Bihar wants a new government. Paras alleged that in the 20 years of Nitish Kumar’s rule, the education system in the state has collapsed, no new industry has been established and the implementation of all welfare schemes is being affected due to large-scale corruption.
