Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, while attending the “100 Years of Sangh Journey – New Horizons” program in Mumbai, said that the BJP is not the Sangh’s party, but that Sangh volunteers are part of it.

Mumbai: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organized the “100 Years of Sangh Journey – New Horizons” program in Mumbai, Maharashtra. At the event, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that viewing the Sangh from a distance would lead to misunderstandings. He said, “Sangh volunteers conduct route marches, but the RSS is not a paramilitary organization.”

He further stated, “Sangh volunteers learn to use sticks and staffs, but it is not an all-India martial arts academy. The Sangh has musical bands, individual songs, and music, but the Sangh is not an all-India music school. Sangh volunteers are also involved in politics, but the Sangh is not a political party.”

He added, “The work of the Sangh is not for the Sangh itself, but for the entire country, for India. The Sangh has not emerged in competition with any other organization, nor has it arisen in reaction to any particular situation. The Sangh does not operate in opposition to anyone; our work is to function without opposing anyone. The Sangh does not seek popularity, nor does it seek power.”

To understand the Sangh, observe its branches: Mohan Bhagwat
Mohan Bhagwat said, “To understand the Sangh, observe its branches, observe the homes and families of its workers. The Sangh does not aim to create a separate organization in society, nor does it aim to create a pressure group. The transformation of destiny happens because of the society of the country. Many countries have risen, and some have also fallen. I’m not talking about ancient history, I’m talking about modern times. Look at America, Britain, France, China, Germany; look at the 100-year history of their rise and fall. You will find books on this, and you will realize that their societies were prepared first, and only then did their rise occur.”

In India, there are only Hindus and no one else: Mohan Bhagwat
Mohan Bhagwat said, “We say that in India, there are only Hindus and no one else. What does it mean to be a Hindu? Don’t consider it a religion, don’t consider it worship, rituals, or religious practices. Hindu is not the name of a particular community, it’s not a noun, it’s an adjective.”

BJP is not the RSS’s party; RSS volunteers are in it: Mohan Bhagwat
Mohan Bhagwat said, “What is the guarantee that slavery will not return? There are shortcomings in our society; we lack unity. We have spent time on one task, but who is to do that task? The RSS is the organization that will ensure the completion of all good works. BJP is not the RSS’s party; RSS volunteers are in it. The RSS has no other work to do except to organize the entire society. They will do everything; that is the work of the volunteers. The RSS does not seek popularity.”

Mohan Bhagwat said, “If you want to see the RSS, go to an RSS branch. The RSS does not want to create a separate organization in society, because the first principle of the RSS is that a country’s destiny changes only when its entire society becomes united. Those who oppose us today are also a part of this society; we have to organize them as well. We have to organize everyone.” Mohan Bhagwat said, “The word ‘Hindu’ came from outside; it is said to have come from Persia and Iran. The scriptures were written as human scriptures, not Hindu scriptures. Saint Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the first to use the word ‘Hindu’. Our interactions with each other will be based on a sense of belonging, not on transactions. The eternal nature of Hindustan does not change. The sages and saints thought that since everyone is one, all knowledge should be given to the world. India is rooted in Dharma; everyone has to walk together, no one should be left behind. If you live alone, there is no discipline, but if you live with others, there is discipline. Since the creation began, it has been guided by Dharma. Secularism is a wrong word; it should be ‘religious neutrality’. The Muslims and Christians of India are not like the Muslims and Christians of the rest of the world.”

Mohan Bhagwat said that there are four types of Hindus in the country:
Those who proudly say, “We are Hindus.”
Those who say, “Yes, we are Hindus.”
Those who say softly, “We are Hindus.”
Those who have forgotten that they are Hindus.
Mohan Bhagwat said, “Respect everyone, accept everyone, be firm in your own faith, respect and accept the faiths of others, live together in harmony – this is the main thing. The nature of Hindustan is eternal. India is rooted in Dharma; it knows that everything is one, everyone has to walk together, no one should be left behind.”
