Records are being broken, highest daily temperatures recorded in about 40% of the Earth

Not just in India, heat records are being broken all over the world. Not just in India, temperature records are being broken all over the world. In Britain, the temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius for the first time in July 2022.

A small town in northwest China reached 52 degrees last year, the highest temperature ever recorded for that country. In 2021, Sicily, Italy reached 48.8 degrees, the highest in Europe.

These are just a few examples. An analysis last year by Carbon Brief, a UK-based publication focused on climate change, shows that between 2013 and 2023, about 40 percent of the Earth’s surface recorded its highest daily temperatures ever. However, the highest temperature ever recorded on Earth was 56.7 degrees Celsius at a place called Death Valley in the California desert in the US, which was recorded 111 years ago in 1913.

Temperature in India increased by 0.7 degrees compared to 1900 levels

The annual average temperature in India has increased by about 0.7 degrees Celsius compared to 1900 levels. This is much less than the 1.59 degree increase in average land temperature worldwide. If oceans are also included in this, then the global temperature at present is at least 1.1 degrees Celsius higher than the pre-industrial average.

Libya’s claims turned out to be false

There are also some records which could not be confirmed. Libya’s Al Azizia held the record for the hottest place for 90 years. In 1922, Libya recorded a temperature of 57.8 degrees Celsius. In 2012, the World Meteorological Organization found this claim to be false.

The year 2024 was predicted to be extremely hot. Last year was the hottest year ever globally and its effect is expected to continue this year as well.

The temperature of Mungeshpur in Delhi turned out to be wrong.

The temperature in Mungeshpur, Delhi was reported to be 52.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, but the Meteorological Department rejected it and said that the machine at the Mungeshpur center was faulty. Doubts over the figure arose mainly because none of the other 20 stations in Delhi recorded a temperature close to 52.9 degrees. The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung in Delhi was 46.8 degrees. This in itself was a record of 80 years, which was the highest since 1944.
