Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ‘break Jawaharlal Nehru’s record’ and retain power for the fourth consecutive time. Union Minister Athawale is on a tour of Bihar. During this three-day tour, he met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. While talking to journalists, he said that the JDU president’s health is ‘good’ and he will remain in power ‘at least for five to ten years’.
Athawale blamed the blockbuster film ‘Chhava’ for the recent communal tension in Maharashtra and called for an end to the demand to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb in Aurangabad.
We are becoming the third largest economy in the world
Ramdas Athawale said that I am proud to be a part of the team of Narendra Modi government, under whose tenure we are moving towards becoming the third largest economy in the world.
He said that Modi has equaled Nehru’s record by returning to power for the third consecutive time. I am confident that he will break the record and come to power for the fourth consecutive time.
He said that as a Buddhist, I have great respect for Bihar, the land where Buddha attained enlightenment more than 2,500 years ago. A day after visiting Bodh Gaya in solidarity with Buddhists demanding “complete control” over the Mahabodhi Temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Athawale said he has also raised the issue with the chief minister.
Nitish Kumar’s health is absolutely good
Athawale said that Bihar is the land of Emperor Ashoka, who spread the teachings of Buddha abroad. Today, followers of Buddhism are spread across 80 countries. It is natural for them to be sad that the trust running the temple has members of many other religions. This has happened due to an Act passed by the state government in the 1950s.
He said that I have urged Nitish ji to address the concerns of Buddhists, who have been protesting in Bodh Gaya for a month. I myself met the protesters. The CM has directed the officials to investigate the areas related to this.
Athawale praised JDU and said that I know him since he was the Railway Minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. He also claimed that he liked Nitish Kumar’s health.
Will remain in power for the next 5-10 years
He said that the rumors of his physical and mental ill health seem to be the handiwork of RJD and Congress, who are worried about the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that Nitish ji is definitely healthier than Lalu ji. I have been a friend of both. I think Nitish ji will remain in power for the next five or ten years. My party may not be strong in Bihar, but I have told him that I will campaign for NDA.
