Rewa: A child fell into a borewell about 40 feet deep in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, operation continues to save the child.

Rewa: A child fell into a borewell in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday. The operation to save the child is going on. Officials said the incident took place at around 3 pm in Manika village bordering Uttar Pradesh when the child was playing near an open borewell. Rewa District Magistrate Pratibha Pal said that a team of State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) has been pressed into service to rescue the child trapped at a depth of about 40 feet.

Oxygen is being supplied inside the borewell
Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Sonkar said that oxygen is being supplied inside the borewell through a pipe. He said that a CCTV camera was also sent inside the borewell to monitor the condition of the child, but due to some obstruction the camera could not reach it. The borewell is about 70 feet deep and a parallel pit is being dug to save the child.

The child was playing with friends
Additional SP Anil Sonkar said that the child was playing with his friends on the harvested wheat crop in the fields when he fell into the borewell. The other children tried to help him. When they could not, they immediately informed Mayank’s parents, after which they informed the police and administration, as soon as the information was received, the station in-charge and SDM reached the spot. 2 JCBs, a team of cameramen and a team of SDRF have been sent from Banaras and will arrive here soon.

It is being told that continuous efforts are being made to safely pull out the child who fell into the borewell in Manka village. Collector Pratibha Pal and Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh reached the spot and are continuously monitoring the relief and rescue operations.
