Putin has removed Sergei Shoigu from the post of Defense Minister of the country. Andrei Belousou has now been appointed as the new Defense Minister of the country in place of Shoigu. According to information given by Russian news agency TASS, 65-year-old Andrei Belousov is Vladimir Putin’s assistant on economic issues, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Director of the Department of Economics and Finance of the Russian Government, as well as Director of Macroeconomic Analysis and Short-Term. Has worked as General Director of Forecasting Centre. Additionally worked in the Russian Academy of Sciences (until 1991 – USSR Academy of Sciences) in 1981-2006. President Putin has also proposed to appoint Boris Kovalchuk as Chairman of the Accounts Chamber. This post was vacant for one and a half years.
