Regarding this, the UK Foreign Ministry has now said, “We strongly condemn the incident outside Chatham House during Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to the UK. The UK supports the right to peaceful protest, but any attempt to intimidate, threaten or disrupt public events is completely unacceptable.”

A person involved in a small group of protesters raising pro-Khalistan slogans in London broke the security cordon and tried to stop Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s car when he was leaving the headquarters of the think tank Chatham House. India condemned the provocative activities of this small group of separatists and extremists. The UK Foreign Ministry said, “The Metropolitan Police worked swiftly to handle the situation and we are fully committed to ensuring the safety of all our diplomatic visitors in accordance with our international obligations.” Community organization Insight UK shared the footage of the incident on social media and said, “It is shameful that this attack has happened when Dr. S Jaishankar is on a visit to the UK and he had a successful meeting with British Foreign Minister David Lammy where he discussed bilateral relations.”

India reminded UK of responsibility

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have seen the footage of the security lapse incident during the Foreign Minister’s visit to the UK. We condemn the provocative activities of this small group of separatists and extremists. We expect that in such cases the host government will fully comply with its diplomatic obligations.”
