Saharanpur: Many times in life we get to see and hear such incidents which are difficult to believe. But the body of an Air Force soldier from Nanauta area of Saharanpur district of UP has been recovered from near Siachen Glacier after 56 years. Everyone is stunned to know this. His body will reach his village on Thursday. The soldier’s family will be able to perform his last rites with rituals. The surprising thing is that his body did not get completely spoiled due to being buried in snow.
What is the whole matter?
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural Area) Sagar Jain gave information on Wednesday and told that Malkhan Singh, a resident of Fatehpur village of Nanauta police station area, was an Air Force soldier and was martyred on 7 February 1968 due to an army plane crash near Siachen Glacier in Himachal Pradesh. More than 100 soldiers were martyred in this accident.
Jain said that since this was a snowy mountain area, the bodies could not be recovered. How difficult this task was can be gauged from the fact that till the year 2019, only five bodies were recovered. Recently, 4 more bodies were found from here, out of which one body was of soldier Malkhan Singh.
When Malkhan was martyred, he was 23 years old. During this time he had a wife Sheela Devi and a one and a half year old son Ram Prasad. But now when his body reaches the village, his wife and son will not be present because they have died.
In such a situation, Malkhan’s last rites will be performed by his grandsons. The surprising thing here is that after Malkhan’s death, his wife Sheela was married to his younger brother Chandrapal. In such a situation, he has 2 sons and a daughter. The people of the village are waiting to give Malkhan a final farewell. Information has also been received that Malkhan’s brother Chandrapal has also died.
