Sudhakar had also clashed with Mulayam Singh Yadav!

In the 2017 assembly elections, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had cut Sudhakar Singh’s ticket from the Ghosi seat. An angry Sudhakar raised the banner of rebellion and contested the election as an independent. Later, when the Mulayam camp and Akhilesh camp reconciled, Sudhakar returned to the SP. This incident was a prime example of his fighting spirit and principled politics.

A Major Victory in the 2023 By-Election
Following the resignation of Dara Singh Chauhan, the SP MLA from Ghosi, in 2022, a by-election was held in 2023. Chauhan had joined the BJP, and the Yogi government made every effort to ensure his victory. The entire government machinery, administration, and police were deployed. The BJP fielded Dara Singh Chauhan again, but Sudhakar Singh countered with the full might of Akhilesh Yadav and the strength of his people.

Sudhakar Singh defeated Dara Singh Chauhan by a huge margin of nearly 50,000 votes. This victory wasn’t just a win for one seat, but a resounding blow to the Yogi government. The people of Ghosi clearly demonstrated their support for Sudhakar. Sudhakar Singh’s outspokenness and direct connection with the people earned him the nickname “Sher-e-Ghosi” in Purvanchal. Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep grief over his demise, saying, “Sudhakar Bhai was a member of our family. His loss can never be compensated.” The Samajwadi Party has lost a warrior. Sudhakar Singh’s body will be brought to Ghosi this evening, where his last rites will be performed tomorrow morning.
