Delhi Assembly Election 2025 Result: On the question of contesting the Delhi Assembly elections separately from the Aam Aadmi Party and the poor results, Congress leader Sandeep Dixit said that the people of Delhi have not defeated anyone but have removed Arvind Kejriwal from the post of Chief Minister. If we had fought together, the result would have been even worse. The people of Delhi had decided that Arvind Kejriwal has to be defeated.
The Congress leader said, “Even if 10 parties had contested the elections together with the Aam Aadmi Party, they would have lost. Their defeat was certain, certain.” Sandeep Dixit also mentioned the liquor policy, Sheeshmahal, bad roads and corruption.
‘Even if we fight together, a bad government will not come back’
He said, “AAP should not have done the misdeeds it did in the last 3 years. The way they used to abuse Congress leaders, they should have stopped. The way they did wrong things regarding the liquor policy, did wrong things in Sheeshmahal, ruined the roads of Delhi. It would have been better if they had not done all this. The vote has been cast against their misrule and corruption. Fighting together or not fighting does not mean that a bad government will be elected again.”
Congress created the entire atmosphere against AAP – Sandeep Dixit
When he was asked how he sees the results of the Delhi Assembly elections On this he said, “I feel that we should have got more votes but what happened is that gradually it became known that the issues we raised created an anti-Aam Aadmi Party wave in Delhi. BJP focused on just one or two more things along with Sheeshmahal, but that does not change governments.”
Congress leader Sandeep Dixit also said, “Our party raised issues and created an atmosphere against the Aam Aadmi Party. But many people said that you fought the Lok Sabha elections together in 2024, so how do we know that you will not be together again. People were looking for an option where Arvind Kejriwal’s face is not seen even by mistake after the elections. So much hatred had developed against Arvind Kejriwal among the voters of Delhi. Perhaps we too could not read that thing completely. People also saw us in his shadow.
What did Sandeep Dixit say about Muslim and Dalit voters?
He further said, “The second was Muslim and Dalit voters, they were also very angry with them. They wanted to come to the Congress side but primarily both those classes wanted that whatever happens, no matter how bad Arvind Kejriwal is, we do not want BJP. Congress was their first choice but they felt that if they shift votes then maybe BJP may not win. They went to Aam Aadmi Party.”
The Congress leader said that those who say that Aam Aadmi Party got so many votes, they got so many votes because people did not see the kind of option they wanted in BJP. Otherwise, leave alone 22 seats, Aam Aadmi Party would not have got even 11-12 seats.
