CBI Sandeshkhali Arms Recovered: Sandeshkhali area, which was in the news for sexual harassment and violence against women in West Bengal, is in the news again. On Friday (April 26), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the residence of Sheikh Shahjahan’s aide and recovered a huge quantity of guns and ammunition from there. The bomb squad team of National Security Guards (NSG) was deployed to defuse the bombs recovered from there.
Regarding this latest incident in Sandeshkhali, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee. BJP’s IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya said that the Bengal CM is also the Home Minister of the state and the way such a huge quantity of illegal weapons have been found is like a conspiracy to wage war against the country.
CBI recovered these weapons in Sandeshkhali
During search operations at several places in Sandeshkhali, CBI recovered several arms and ammunition including foreign pistols. At least 12 guns were recovered. Officials said that this search operation is related to the incident of attack on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team by supporters of Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh.
The ED team was attacked on January 5 in Sandeshkhali when they had gone to raid Shaikh’s premises in connection with the ration scam. Officials further said that during the investigation, CBI got information that a huge quantity of weapons were hidden in Sandeshkhali. Later on Friday morning, the CBI team started the search operation from where the NSG team was deployed to defuse the bombs recovered along with the weapons.
BJP said- Home Minister Mamata Banerjee should tell…
On the recovery of huge quantity of weapons, Bengal BJP’s co-incharge and head of the party’s IT cell, Amit Malviya, posted on the micro blogging platform and asked many questions to Mamata Banerjee. He wrote, “During the raid in connection with the attack on ED officials, the CBI recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from Sarberia, Sandeshkhali. As the Home Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee should tell that there is a huge increase in illegal arms in the state. Why is such a huge stockpile dangerous?
He further wrote, NSG has been deployed to defuse the bombs but the West Bengal government approached the Supreme Court to stop the CBI from investigating the case. This consignment of weapons is nothing but a terrorist act waging war against the country. However, the question is, why is Mamata Banerjee trying to save the terrorists who have accumulated such a huge amount of weapons?”
