There is important news for the passengers thinking of going on Haj from India. The government has given this information in Parliament that how many people will be able to perform Haj this year. The government said in the Rajya Sabha on Monday that for 2025, Saudi Arabia has set a Haj quota for 1,75,025 Indian pilgrims which has been distributed between the Indian Haj Committee and Haj Group Organizers (HGO).
Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju gave this information to the Upper House in a written reply to a question. He said that the quota for the year 2025 has been distributed between the Indian Haj Committee and HGO in the ratio of 70:30. He said that for Haj 2025, the quota of Haj pilgrims allotted to HGO is 30 percent (52,507) of India’s total 1,75,025. He said that the rules and conditions related to Haj quota allocation and Haj group organizers are governed by the bilateral agreement signed between India and Saudi Arabia, which takes into account many ground realities.
The journey is of 40 days
The Haj pilgrimage is of 40 days. During this, the first 10 days have to be spent in the city of Medina and after this many traditions are performed on different days. After spending time in Medina, the Haj pilgrims go to many hilly areas. They throw stones at the wall of Satan. Animals are also sacrificed there on Eid-ul-Azha. The Kaaba in the city of Mecca is of the greatest importance in the Haj pilgrimage. The Haj pilgrims take seven rounds of the Kaaba in the anti-clockwise direction, this process is called Tawaf. There is a black stone in the Kaaba, which is kissed.
The quota of pilgrims is fixed for every country
The rule of Saudi Arabia is that one person can go on Haj pilgrimage for every 1000 population from Muslim countries. However, every country tries to send as many people as possible from its country for Hajj, so there are talks on increasing the Hajj quota. India had signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian government in Jeddah regarding the Hajj quota.
