Seoul: North Korea disrupted the flights of South Korean planes by tampering with GPS. The South Korean army has made this very serious allegation against North Korea. According to South Korea, this is a cyber attack by Kim Jong’s army. South Korea said that a large number of flights and ship operations were affected due to North Korea tampering with GPS signals from the border areas for the second consecutive day on Saturday.
Tensions have increased between the two Korean countries due to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un demonstrating his nuclear and missile programs and engaging in electronic and psychological warfare. North Korea recently flew thousands of balloons to drop garbage and anti-South Korea propaganda leaflets on the neighboring country. South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff said that North Korea’s activities to tamper with GPS signals were detected around the western border city of Kaesong and the nearby city of Haeju on Friday and Saturday.
Dozens of planes stopped
South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff said that these activities of North Korea disrupted the operations of dozens of civilian aircraft and many ships. In its warning to aircraft and ships near its western border regions, South Korea’s military did not say how North Korea was interfering with GPS signals or detail the extent of the interference. “We urge North Korea to immediately cease its provocative actions involving GPS tampering. We sternly warn that it will be held fully accountable for any consequences that may result,” South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
