The controversy over Shimla’s Sanjauli Mosque is not coming to an end. After the last hearing in the case, the date of 5 October has been given. In view of peace in Sanjauli, Section 163 has been implemented in the entire area from 7 am on Wednesday, after which gathering of five or more people together has been banned. That is, any kind of protest will not be possible now.
A call for a big demonstration was given by Hindu organizations. Regarding the demonstration, Shimla SP said, ‘We have implemented the procedures under BNSS 163. Everything is normal and people are going to their schools and offices. Police has been deployed as a precaution. We are also monitoring with drones. If someone violates the law, we will collect evidence against such people. The people of Himachal are peace loving people. Therefore, even if people gather, it will be a peaceful protest.
Demand for action on illegal construction
Today, Shimla Urban MLA Harish Janardan sought a discussion on law and order inside the House under this point of order and directed to maintain law and order during the protest in the House. Jairam Thakur said that the Congress minister himself had raised his birth sentiments in the House and after that the matter reached the Congress High Command, now they are talking about removing the minister, on this the Chief Minister is also giving evasive answers. He said that this matter is related to public sentiments and yesterday the people of Hindu society are protesting in Shimla regarding this, in such a situation the government should also handle it in a peaceful manner. He also appealed to the people to make the protest peaceful. Along with this, he also demanded from the government to take action to demolish the illegal construction that has been done.
Decision will come soon
Minister in the state government Anirudh Singh said that all the work in Himachal Pradesh will be done within the ambit of law. He said that this matter is not related to any particular building. Strict action should be taken against illegal construction in the entire state. He also said that the matter of Sanjauli Mosque is sensitive. The matter is currently going on in the Municipal Corporation Court. Both the parties have given their replies. A decision will be taken soon.
Street Vendor Policy
Aniruddh Singh said that this matter started with the matter of street vendors. In this regard, councilors and people from many organizations had also met the Chief Minister and demanded amendment in the Street Vendor Policy in the state. He said that the state government is serious about the whole matter. Verification of a person coming from outside or a person working in any house or shop in the state is necessary. A sub-committee has also been formed regarding this. Aniruddh Singh said that it is the responsibility of the government to maintain law and order in the state. All work in the state should be done within the ambit of law.
