Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, who was in news for assaulting a canteen employee of the MLA hostel, has now become a little more uncontrollable. On Friday, he threatened to beat up All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Imtiaz Jaleel. Gaikwad’s comment came after Jaleel criticised him for attacking the canteen employee. Jaleel also hit back at Gaikwad, saying that he has accepted the Shiv Sena MLA’s challenge and asked him to tell the place and time.
Fight in MLA hostel canteen
Gaikwad, MLA from Buldhana assembly constituency, is in controversy for beating up a canteen employee for serving ‘stale food’. The MLA had ordered dinner from the Akashvani MLA hostel canteen in south Mumbai on Tuesday night and the dal-rice delivered to his room was allegedly stale and smelled bad. Angered by this, the MLA barged into the canteen and forced an employee to smell a packet of dal and then slapped him. A video of the incident went viral, drawing widespread condemnation from both the opposition and the government.
Why did Gaikwad get angry at Imtiaz Jaleel?
Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel criticised Gaikwad, saying it was not right to beat up a poor person like this. When Gaikwad was asked by reporters about Jaleel’s remarks, he said, “If that is the case, then Jaleel bhai, you should take the contract to run that hotel (MLA hostel canteen) and then serve that kind of food. I punched that man (canteen employee) twice. But I will beat Imtiyaz Jaleel so badly that he will not be in a position to run the hotel.”
Instead of beating him, he will write a letter to the Assembly Speaker
Reacting to Gaikwad’s remarks, the former AIMIM MP from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar said, “I am not in a mood to run a hotel. But if a poor man is working as a waiter and an MLA from the ruling party is beating him just because he did not get the right kind of food. Doesn’t he know that rules are made in the Assembly? If Gaikwad was a little educated, he would have written a letter to the (Assembly) Speaker (on the food issue).” He said, “If the Speaker took him seriously, he would have acted on his demand.”
Tell me the time and place
Jaleel, the president of the AIMIM’s Maharashtra unit, said, “Gaikwad has a history of fighting. If he is threatening me, tell me the time and place. He doesn’t have to try, I will reach the place. I have nothing to do with Sanjay Gaikwad, but if you are doing wrong then I will stand with that poor person.
