There were many leaders in other allies of MVA including Shiv Sena UBT who had rebelled and filed nomination as independents. In such a situation, the heads of the constituent parties of MVA, Sharad Pawar (NCP SP) and Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena UBT), had given an ultimatum to their rebel leaders, giving them a last chance. He had said that if the names are not withdrawn in time, strict action will be taken by the party. Meanwhile, many leaders had withdrawn their names, but many remained adamant on their decision.
