SIR: The date for the Special Intensive Revision in Uttar Pradesh has been extended. If you haven’t yet added or removed your name from the list, you now have another month to do so.

UP SIR Date Extended: Politics over Muslim votes is also taking place in Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi have alleged that a conspiracy is underway to remove the names of Muslims from the voter list through SIR (Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls). Form 7 is being used as a tool for this. However, today the Election Commission extended the SIR process in Uttar Pradesh by one month. The date for adding and removing names has been extended from February 6th to March 6th. The date for EROs (Electoral Registration Officers) to make decisions on Forms 6 and 7 has also been extended to March 27th. The final voter list for UP will now be published on April 10th.

Mapping of 3 Crore Voters Not Completed
In fact, the mapping of approximately 3 crore voters in UP has not yet been completed, which is why most parties had appealed to the Election Commission to extend the date. The Election Commission has accepted this request. Today, UP’s Chief Electoral Officer, Navdeep Rinwa, stated that in the last one month, approximately 38 lakh people have filled out Form 6 to get their names added to the voter list.

SIR Process Extended by 1 Month
Navdeep Rinwa said that notices were to be sent to 3.26 crore voters whose names were on the voter list but whose mapping had not been completed. However, only 2.37 crore people have received notices so far. Hearings have been held for 30.30 lakh of these people, which is why the Election Commission has given another month to complete this process.

What are the SIR figures?

SP Chief Makes Allegations
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav alleges that PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak – Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities) votes are being removed through Form 7. However, the Election Commission has denied these allegations. Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that there are rules for filling out Form 7 and no one can arbitrarily remove someone’s vote. However, the Samajwadi Party is setting up camps in various places to help people fill out Form 6 and Form 7. A similar camp has been set up in the Lucknow Cantonment area, where SP leaders are claiming that there is a conspiracy to remove SP votes, but they are vigilant.
