Once again, the movement for reservation of Maratha community has intensified in Maharashtra. Social activist Manoj Jarange has taken over the command of the movement. Leader of the movement Manoj Jarange Patil has announced ‘Chalo Mumbai’ to demand Maratha reservation. Thousands of people of Maratha community are coming towards Mumbai to support it. Meanwhile, Satish Deshmukh of Beed district, who participated in the movement and is 45 years old, died of a heart attack today. This incident has sent a wave of grief among the agitators.
Satish Deshmukh was a resident of Varpagaon in Kej taluka and was a farmer. He was actively involved in the Maratha reservation movement for the last two years. On Wednesday, he left for Mumbai with his colleagues, but on Thursday morning he died of a heart attack in Narayangaon.
Family immersed in grief
His body was brought to the village. A wave of grief ran in the village after his death. The family is immersed in grief. Deshmukh’s father and brother are serving in the army. He had only three and a half acres of land, on which the whole family was dependent. His death has brought financial crisis to the family.
Agitators paid tribute
Deshmukh has left behind his wife, 19-year-old son and elderly parents. The workers participating in the Maratha Front have become emotional due to Deshmukh’s sudden death. The agitators have paid tribute to him and vowed to strengthen the fight for reservation.
What is the purpose of the movement?
Through this movement, the Maratha community demands that they should be included in OBC (Other Backward Classes) and given reservation. CM Devendra Fadnavis’s reaction has also come to the fore regarding this. He said, our government had started giving reservation to the Maratha community. We have given 10 percent separate reservation for the Maratha community, despite this, now they are demanding reservation in OBC. India is a democratic country, here everyone has the right to express their views, but I myself am unable to understand why this movement was needed?
