A towel factory caught fire on Sunday, May 18 in Solapur, Maharashtra. Eight people died in this incident. All eight people were associated with the factory. The factory owner is also among the dead. The incident took place in Akkalkot Road Industrial Area of Solapur. A fire broke out in the Central Textile Mill towel factory here due to a short circuit. A total of 8 people from the owner and the laborer family died in this accident.

The security guard got information about the fire at 3 am. After this, he informed the security guard of the nearby factory and called the fire brigade. Immediately fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. There were a lot of difficulties to go inside the factory due to the narrow lane. By then the fire had taken a fierce form. Factory owner Usman Mansuri and a laborer family, a total of 8 people lived there along with working in the factory.
Bodies unrecognizable
The bodies of Mehtab Bagwan, his daughter Heena Wasim Sheikh and son Salman Mehtab Bagwan were taken out in the morning. Meanwhile, the search for four members of the factory owner Usman Mansuri’s family and another member of the labourer’s family, a total of 5 people, was going on. In the afternoon, the bodies of factory owner Usman Mansuri, his grandson Anas (26), granddaughter-in-law Shifa Mansuri (24), grandson’s son Yusuf (1) and labourer Mehtab Bagwan’s wife Ayesha Bagwan were found, which were mutilated beyond recognition. All the bodies were brought to the government hospital, where a huge crowd of relatives gathered. Towels and other materials were made in this factory located in MIDC. Due to the fire breaking out at 3.30 in the morning, the fire could not be controlled quickly.

100 fire brigade vehicles were called from Solapur city as well as other places and NTPC. A large amount of water was sprayed, but the fire continued to smolder. The fire was brought under control after about five to six hours. However, by then the screams coming from inside had stopped, said the fire brigade personnel. Some fire brigade personnel also suffered burn injuries. As soon as the information about the fire was received, MLA Subhash Deshmukh, former MLA and labor leader Narsayya Adam Master and others reached the spot.
