Somali pirates capture Bangladesh ship, demand ransom of 5 million dollars

Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah was hijacked by Somali pirates. There are 23 Bangladeshi crew members on board this ship. Somali pirates have demanded a ransom of 5 million dollars for the safe release of the crew members.

The Bangladeshi ship was hijacked by pirates while going to Mozambique this month. After hijacking the ship, the pirates took it to Somalia.

The Somali pirates took the crew members of the Bangladeshi cargo ship and other members on board into their custody and went to Somalia. The families of the hostages have demanded the government’s intervention for the safe release of all.

 

After hijacking the Bangladeshi ship in the Indian Ocean, it was taken towards Somalia. In the last few months, the attacks of Somali pirates have increased a lot in the sea. The ship with the flag of Bangladesh was being used to transport a large amount of goods. 55,000 tons of coal was being carried on this ship.

 

Earlier also, 14 years ago in 2010, pirates had hijacked a Bangladeshi ship. During that time, it was released after paying a ransom of millions of dollars. The ship was in the possession of pirates for more than three months. In December 2010, Somali pirates kidnapped the Bangladeshi ship MV Jahan Moni carrying thousands of tons of ore from the Arabian Sea. A total of 26 people were on board this ship.

 

The Indian Navy also took action in response to the attack on the Bangladeshi ship. Navy Chief Hari Kumar said that we are constantly monitoring the condition of the Abdullah ship. The Indian Navy has taken strict measures against attacks on ships in the sea in the last few months.
