South Africa: A leading Hindu organisation in South Africa has distributed 60,000 small booklets of Hanuman Chalisa in eight temples across the country. Members of the SA Hindus organisation, led by bikers from various clubs in the Gauteng province, carried out this campaign on Sunday. Along with this, they also collected and distributed about two tonnes of groceries to help the needy.
Pandita Lucy Sigban, founder of SA Hindus, told PTI, “We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to see so many devotees in the temples. Especially many people from neighbouring provinces including KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) came and supported this campaign with full enthusiasm.”
‘Devotees should be thanked’
Sigban said, “We are grateful to the leadership and devotees of all the temples who helped the needy to improve their lives by providing groceries.” South African Hindus launched the “One Million Hanuman Chalisa Initiative” in collaboration with Shareno Printers and Electro Online Media during the Bhakti Utsav on 24 August 2024. Their goal is to distribute one million Hanuman Chalisa booklets by 2029.
Niran Singh, owner of Shareno Printers, said this
Niran Singh, owner of Shareno Printers, said, “We are extremely happy to be a part of this initiative, as it helps to advance the spiritual knowledge and service spirit of South African Hindus.” Mrinal Bhagwan, co-founder of Throttle Collective, said, “It is a matter of great joy that this initiative is uniting the community. Gauteng’s biking community came out in large numbers and showed solidarity to our call and participated enthusiastically in this campaign.” One million Hanuman Chalisa will be distributed in 5 years
In September last year, a leading Hindu organization of South Africa launched a program to distribute one million pocket-sized copies of Hanuman Chalisa for free within the next five years. During this, Pandita Lucy Sigbon, founder of South African Hindus, said, “We have hosted this event to celebrate spiritual development, community service and cultural preservation, in which representatives of more than a dozen religious organizations of South Africa participated.”
