South’s superhit director and well-known choreographer Prabhu Deva is celebrating his 52nd birthday today. First marriage broke in relationship with Lady Superstar?
There are many talented actresses in the South Indian film industry who constantly give tough competition to Bollywood actresses on the basis of their exceptional acting skills and fashion. One such actress is Diana Mariam Kurien, popularly known as Nayantara. The actress is often referred to as the Lady Superstar of South Indian cinema. Very few people know that she was once in a relationship with famous choreographer Prabhu Deva. The news of Nayanthara dating Prabhu Deva first hit the headlines in 2009. Back then, most people dismissed the news of their dating as a publicity stunt for their film Villu. Prabhu Deva had directed the film and Nayanthara was the lead actress. This is where the two’s affair began.
Prabhu Deva was already married
However, Prabhu Deva was already married before Nayanthara. Prabhu Deva and Lata got married in 1995 and had three children, Vishal Deva, Rishi Raghavendra Deva and Adhith Deva. Unfortunately, their eldest son Vishal died in 2008 due to cancer. Still, the family of four was living happily and the initial reports of Prabhu Deva’s link-up with Nayanthara were considered to be a PR stunt.
In September 2010, the famous choreographer opened up about his relationship with Nayanthara and admitted that they have been dating for the past two years. Not just that, Prabhu Deva had also said that he would like to marry Nayanthara. This revelation had created a stir in the South Indian film industry. After making his relationship with Nayanthara official, Prabhu Deva went to his wife Latha and reportedly told her that he wanted to end their marriage. However, Latha stood her ground and tried her best to stop the court from granting her a divorce. She even filed a case in the court that her husband Prabhu Deva wanted to end their marriage so that he could marry Nayanthara.
Soon people started coming in support of Latha and many women communities started burning posters of Nayanthara and calling her a ‘home breaker’.
However, despite all these protests and constant pressure from Lata on the court’s decision, Prabhu Deva and Lata got divorced on July 2, 2010. Prabhu Deva ended his 16-year marriage with Lata and by then Lata was also sure that she did not want to live with him anymore. Prabhu Deva was reportedly living in a live-in relationship with Nayantara soon after his divorce from his ex-wife Lata. After some time, cracks started appearing in Nayantara and Prabhu Deva’s relationship and if reports are to be believed, Nayantara did not like that people blamed her for Prabhu Deva and Lata’s divorce. Prabhu Deva and Nayantara also separated.
