Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah calls upon all security agencies to make Jammu and Kashmir terror-free, reviews preparations for Shri Amarnathji Yatra

Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday called upon all security agencies to work in a coordinated manner to consolidate the success achieved after the repeal of Article 370 and achieve the goal of making Jammu and Kashmir terror-free. Addressing a security review meeting in Srinagar, Shah said that the Center is committed to establishing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and completely eliminating terrorism. The Union Home Minister said, ‘All agencies should continue to work in a coordinated manner so that the success achieved after the repeal of Article 370 in this Union Territory can be maintained and the goal of ‘terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir’ can be achieved as soon as possible.’

Shah reiterated ‘no tolerance policy’ regarding terrorism

During the meeting, the Home Minister praised the efforts of the security agencies, due to which there has been a significant reduction in terrorism-related incidents, infiltration and recruitment of youth in terrorist organizations. He reiterated the ‘no tolerance policy’ regarding terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shah said that due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government, the entire pro-terror ecosystem nurtured by anti-national elements in Jammu and Kashmir has been crippled. He directed all security agencies to continue efforts with a coordinated approach to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah also reviews preparations for Shri Amarnathji Yatra

Shah also stressed that ‘the implementation of the regional domination plan and zero terror plan should be ensured in mission mode.’ The Home Minister said that the Modi government is providing all the necessary resources to achieve this goal. He also reviewed the preparations for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra to be held from July 3 to August 9 this year and directed the concerned agencies to take all necessary actions to ensure peaceful completion of the pilgrimage. Earlier, while chairing a development review meeting, Shah said that the Modi government is working with determination towards building a developed Jammu and Kashmir.

Home Minister returned to New Delhi after 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir

Shah said, ‘With the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Modi, a new era of prosperity is beginning for every citizen through development and welfare initiatives.’ He said that Jammu and Kashmir is rapidly moving on the path of development in every field. During this review meeting, the achievements of the Union Territory in the field of electricity, connectivity, industry, tourism and agriculture were highlighted before the Union Home Minister. The Home Minister directed the agencies to take all necessary steps to further accelerate the pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir so that the full potential of the Union Territory can be utilized. Shah returned to New Delhi after a 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister Abdullah was not a part of the security review meeting

Officials said that apart from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior officials of the Union Home Ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir government participated in the development review meeting held at the Raj Bhavan. Officials said that however, Chief Minister Abdullah was not part of the security review meeting, which was attended by top officials of the police and army and other security force agencies. Shah reached the Kashmir Valley on Monday evening. He met leaders of allies like BJP and JDU. Immediately after arriving on Monday, Shah went to the house of Kirti Chakra awardee Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Muzammil Bhat.

Let us tell you that Humayun Muzammil Bhat sacrificed his life fighting terrorists in 2023. Before going to the Raj Bhavan, the Union Home Minister spent about 20 minutes with the father of the late police officer and retired Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat. Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who was awarded the Kirti Chakra posthumously, was among the 4 security personnel who were martyred in September 2023 while fighting terrorists in the dense forests around Gadul village of Kokernag in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
