Sunshade in Space: At present, the whole world is suffering from global warming. At such a time, Israeli scientist Prof. Yoram Rosen has made a revolutionary plan. Yoram Rosen is raising 15 million dollars to develop a prototype of sunshade in space. The effects of climate change are to be reduced on a large scale through this ‘space umbrella’. In fact, Rosen, a researcher at the Israel Institute of Technology, has imagined installing a 25 lakh tonne sunshade in space at a distance of 15 lakh kilometers from the Earth.
This sunshade will be designed in such a way that only 2 percent of the sun’s radiation can be blocked. According to the plan made, this space umbrella can reduce the global temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius in the coming 12 to 18 months. In human history, the required amount of heat from the sun has been coming to the earth, this did not cause any problem. Even today the earth is getting heat from the sun, but due to the industrial revolution, the problem of global warming is increasing. Due to the emission of huge amounts of greenhouse gases, the earth is not able to cool itself.
Scientists want to do trials initially
Now Israeli scientists have imagined making an umbrella that can block the heat of the sun to a great extent, thereby reducing global warming. Under this concept, the reflective, opaque umbrella is to be launched into a stable orbit. This umbrella will remain locked with the rotation of the sun, that is, as the sun rotates, the umbrella will also keep rotating accordingly. This umbrella sunshell will be made of thin, reflective material, its purpose is to reduce the effects of gravity and solar wind. Before this ambitious plan, Prof. Rosen has emphasized that initially a blackboard-sized umbrella is to be made and tested first.
30 trillion dollars to install an umbrella in space
The initial prototype will help in getting the technology recognized before full-scale work. This entire project can cost up to 30 trillion dollars. This budget is so huge that it is more than the total GDP of America, but it is less than the estimated economic loss due to global warming by the middle of the century. Rosen said that this will not happen like clouds coming between the earth and the sun, rather it will only make a difference between 12 noon and 2 pm. That is, this umbrella will reduce the sunlight very little.
