Lok Sabha Election 2024: On the statement of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar leader Supriya Sule said, “How can there be a family fight? In a democracy, someone will fight against someone. Like me, they should have a strong candidate. So whatever place, issue and time they give, we can discuss it with that candidate in front of everyone.”
Who is Sunetra Pawar?
Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, is likely to contest against Supriya Sule in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sunetra Pawar belongs to a political family of Dharashiv district. She is the sister of former state minister and Lok Sabha MP Padamsingh Patil. Patil played an important role in founding the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) with Sharad Pawar in 1999. Sunetra had actively campaigned for her husband on the Baramati assembly seat during the state elections.
Election riot on Baramati seat?
Baramati Lok Sabha seat is currently represented by Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP founder Sharad Pawar. Sunetra Pawar’s recent campaign in the constituency has increased speculations about her contesting against Supriya Sule, who is her sister-in-law. Sunil Tatkare indicated that Sunetra could be fielded in the Lok Sabha elections. Baramati seat is dominated by the Pawar family.
After separating from the party last July, Ajit is preparing for the Lok Sabha elections, hence this seat has become important for him. BJP has also identified Baramati as one of the “difficult” seats in Maharashtra. An election riot can be seen on Baramati seat this year. Where first time contender Sunetra Pawar may face her cousin sister and current MP from Baramati Supriya Sule.
