Surguja Alumina Refinery Accident: So far four workers have died in the accident that took place on Sunday (September 8) at Maa Kudargadhi Alumina Factory located in Ambikapur, Surguja, Chhattisgarh and many workers have been seriously injured in this accident. All the injured have been admitted to the Medical College Hospital. It is being told that this accident happened due to the collapse of a coal bunker in the plant. CM Vishnudev Sai ordered an inquiry in this matter and said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
CM Vishnudev Sai tweeted, “Sad news has been received about the death of four workers and injuries to many workers in the industrial accident at the alumina plant in Surguja. Orders have been given to investigate the matter, strict action will be taken against the culprits. My condolences are with the families of the deceased. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls, strength to the families and speedy recovery of the injured.”
Condition of many workers is critical
The coal loaded hopper fell down at 11 am in the alumina refinery. The belt carrying coal from the hopper to the broiler also fell down along with the frame. During the accident, 8 to 9 workers working on the spot got buried under the hopper and coal. After this, there was chaos in the plant. Four workers died in this. The injured are being treated at the Medical College Hospital.
According to the information, the coal loading hopper which fell was earlier filled with straw. The broiler of the plant was run on straw. Meanwhile, coal started being put in this hopper from September 1 and the boiler was being run on coal. The hopper was made according to the capacity to fill straw, while the hopper got overloaded due to filling of coal and this accident happened.
