Its time duration is about 5 hours 10 minutes. According to Indian time, the eclipse started at 9:12 pm and will last till 2:22 pm. It is night in India at the time of solar eclipse. Therefore the Sutak period of solar eclipse is not valid in India. This solar eclipse is being seen in countries like America, Canada, Colombia, Venezuela, Ireland, Portugal, Norway, Panama, Russia, Bahamas etc.
The time duration of this solar eclipse is more than five hours. Not only this, sunlight will not be able to reach the Earth for more than seven minutes. Know what should not be done during solar eclipse?
According to astrology, the Sutak period of this solar eclipse will not be valid in India, but still no new or auspicious work should be started on this day. According to astrological beliefs, the Sutak period of the solar eclipse starts 12 hours in advance. Therefore, even though the solar eclipse is going on at night, its Sutak period has started in India at 9.12 in the morning. Therefore, avoid doing any auspicious work during this period.
During the solar eclipse, the doors of the temple are kept closed, hence during this time avoid touching the idol or picture of God and do not perform worship in the home temple or in the place of worship. Pregnant women have to take special care on the day of solar eclipse. Therefore, pregnant women should not touch sharp objects like needles, knives, scissors, razors etc. and should not leave the house until the eclipse is over.
Sleeping during an eclipse is considered inauspicious. Therefore one should not sleep during the eclipse. Cutting nails and hair is also considered taboo during the eclipse. Therefore, nails and hair should not be cut during the eclipse.
Do these things during solar eclipse
According to astrology, you should chant mantras during solar eclipse. There is benefit by doing this. It is believed that chanting mantras during eclipse makes you mentally strong and the negative effects of eclipse are also removed by chanting mantras. It is also considered good to meditate on the day or during the eclipse. Meditating on this day provides mental peace.
Also, food should be taken before the eclipse. If there is leftover food in the house, basil leaves should be added to it. Studying religious texts during the eclipse is also beneficial. Therefore, during this eclipse, you can read religious books like Geeta, Ramcharitmanas etc.

The first solar eclipse of the year is taking place on 8 April. This will be a total solar eclipse and during this time the sky becomes dark. Although this sight is not visible everywhere, the solar eclipse is visible only in selected parts of the world. That is why it is said that such a rare solar eclipse appears only once in a lifetime.
When a solar eclipse occurs, the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. Due to the arrival of the moon, the sunlight is completely or partially blocked. The first solar eclipse of 2024 is visible in Mexico, America and Canada. The total solar eclipse is clearly visible in many cities of these countries. The sky will become completely dark here. It is also being seen in 18 different states of America. However, the solar eclipse will not be visible in India. According to Indian time, the total solar eclipse will start from 9:12 pm on April 8 and will continue till 2:22 am on April 9, 2024.
How to watch solar eclipse
The sun is so bright that if you stare at any part of it, no matter how small, it produces enough light to damage your retina cells. Therefore, always use eclipse glasses to view the eclipse. These are special glasses which are specially designed for viewing the eclipse. If you look directly towards the sun without any safety, the retina of your eyes can get burnt. Even permanent damage and blindness can occur.
