Attacker killed
According to the state news agency SANA, the shooting took place near the historic city of Palmyra. It had earlier reported that two members of the Syrian security forces and several US soldiers were wounded.

The wounded were airlifted to the Al-Tanf base near the Iraqi and Jordanian borders. SANA reported that the attacker was killed, but provided no further details.
