Syria attacked a US base. A ​​lone Islamic State (ISIS) gunman ambushed a joint US-Syrian security patrol in Palmyra, central Syria, on Saturday. Two US soldiers and one US civilian (a translator) were killed in the attack. Three other US soldiers were wounded and are reported to be in stable condition.

Identities of the deceased soldiers to be kept confidential
This attack on US troops in Syria is the first such incident resulting in casualties since the fall of President Bashar al-Assad a year ago. Attacker killed
According to the state news agency SANA, the shooting took place near the historic city of Palmyra. It had earlier reported that two members of the Syrian security forces and several US soldiers were wounded.

The wounded were airlifted to the Al-Tanf base near the Iraqi and Jordanian borders. SANA reported that the attacker was killed, but provided no further details.
