Two workers were killed and four others, including two women, were injured in an explosion in a firecracker factory warehouse near Nazareth in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday evening. Police informed that the explosion occurred suddenly while transporting firecrackers from one place to another.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed grief over the incident and announced an assistance of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Four people injured in the explosion
Police said that two people died in the incident, who have been identified as Kannan and Vijay. While four others have been taken to Tirunelveli Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. According to the press release, Selvam, Prashant, Sendhurkani and Muthumari are seriously injured in the incident, who are being treated.
CM announced help
Chief Minister Stalin said that I am deeply saddened to hear the news of deaths due to an unexpected explosion in a private firecracker factory. He said that financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each will be provided to those injured in the accidental explosion.
