Telangana CM Revanth Reddy met Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy in Delhi. During this, CM Reddy thanked the Union Minister for approving 2,000 electric buses to Hyderabad under the PM e-Drive scheme. Along with this, CM Reddy has urged Kumaraswamy to allocate 800 more electric buses (EV) to Hyderabad.
Electric buses were requested
The office of Union Minister Kumaraswamy said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made a formal request for allocation of additional electric buses, citing the growing urban mobility demand in Telangana and the need for more efficient public transport solutions.
2 thousand electric buses given under PM e-Drive scheme
Kumaraswamy said, ‘The Government of India is fully committed to building a clean, green and future-ready mobility ecosystem. The 2,000 e-buses approved to Hyderabad under the PM e-Drive scheme are a transformational step towards reducing urban pollution, modernizing public transport and improving the quality of life of citizens.’
Also appeal to allow retrofitting
CM Reddy on Saturday brought to Kumaraswamy’s attention that retrofitting of diesel buses of the state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) has been successful and the same vehicles are already running in the city. The state government said that the CM has also appealed to the Union minister to allow retrofitting in existing diesel buses.
The target is to run more than 10,000 electric buses in many cities of the country
The PM E-Drive scheme launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industries aims to deploy more than 10,000 electric buses in major Indian cities. This will further India’s climate goals and enhance last-mile connectivity.
