Telangana Tunnel Rescue: Rescue team recovered a body from Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Telangana on Sunday, March 09, 2025. A part of Srisailam Left Bank Canal was damaged on February 22 in which 8 people went missing. The rescue team found the body stuck inside the machine on Sunday, whose only hand was clearly visible. According to an official, the rescue team is busy cutting the machine to safely remove the body trapped in the machine.
Help of search dogs is being taken
Cadaver dogs were deployed on the 17th day of the rescue operation. Minister in Telangana government Uttam Kumar Reddy said, ‘Cadaver dogs have sniffed and identified places where 3 people are suspected to be trapped. A total of 8 people including engineers and laborers are trapped in the tunnel’.
Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy assured that the government will give them full support. The minister also assessed the ongoing water drainage and silt cleaning work. Reddy said that further updates will be given after the review on March 11.
Robots will be used
Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Saturday, “Robotic technology is being used to speed up the rescue operation and to locate the missing people”. Describing the tunnel accident as a national disaster, Reddy said, “Advanced global technology is being used to speed up the rescue operation.
According to the report of news agency PTI, the senior officer said that talks have been held with the concerned people about the last 70 meters of the 14 km long tunnel where the accident took place, robots will be sent there and the rescue operation will be intensified afresh from Tuesday. Every possible effort is being made to rescue the trapped people.
For the last 2 weeks, 11 national-level rescue teams have been running the operation. The government will take the help of global tunnel construction and rescue experts to rescue the 8 people trapped in the tunnel since February 22.
