A 29-year-old man from Telangana has died in the United States. A 29-year-old man was shot and killed by police in California, USA. According to reports, he was shot by police earlier this month following an altercation with his roommate.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Nizamuddin, from the Mahbubnagar district of Telangana. According to the family, Nizamuddin went to the United States in 2016 for higher education. After completing his Master’s degree from a Florida college, he began working as a software professional in a company. Later, after receiving a promotion, he moved to California.

The family appealed to the government for help.

Nizamuddin’s father, Mohammad Hasnuddin, said he learned from a friend of his son that the incident occurred on September 3rd, but it remains unclear what exactly happened to his son that day and how he died. Hasnuddin has appealed to the central government for assistance in bringing his son’s body back to India. He has written a letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. In the letter, he stated, “This morning I learned that Nizamuddin was shot by the Santa Clara police and his body is being held at a hospital in California. I don’t know why the police shot him.”

He explained that according to information received, his son and roommate had a fight over a minor issue. However, the full details of the incident are still unclear.

Hasanuddin appealed to Jaishankar to contact the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Indian Consulate in San Francisco to assist in bringing his son’s body to Mahbubnagar.

How did the death occur?

Meanwhile, a relative of the deceased stated that a quarrel with his roommate over the air conditioner escalated into a physical altercation, leading to a knife attack. A neighbor called the police.

The relative stated, “When the police entered the room, they asked both men to raise their hands. One boy complied, but the other did not. Police then fired four shots, killing Nizamuddin. It is deeply regrettable that, according to reports, the shooting was carried out so quickly without a proper investigation.”

The relative also requested assistance in bringing the body to India, saying, “We also request the Telangana government to assist in bringing the body to Mahbubnagar. The family has not yet received complete information.”

Amjad Ullah Khan, spokesperson for the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), also shared Hasnuddin’s letter to Jaishankar on X and appealed for help to the family.
