JPC may be formed immediately after the bill is introduced

According to sources, the bill can be sent to the JPC for introduction and detailed discussion and consensus. The government has no objection in sending this bill to the parliamentary committee if it is demanded in the House. It is being said that JPC will be formed tomorrow in which the names of members of all parties including BJP-Congress will also be announced.

According to sources, discussions have been held with all the constituent parties of NDA regarding One Nation One Election and all the parties are in favor of it. According to government sources, opposition parties are opposing it only for political reasons.

What is One Nation One Election?

Actually, there is a discussion going on to conduct all the elections in the country simultaneously. The Modi government at the center is in favor of it. One Nation One Election means that along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections of all the states should also be conducted. Apart from this, elections of local bodies, Nagar Palika, Nagar Panchayat and Gram Panchayats should also be held simultaneously. PM Modi himself is in favor of this and he has also advocated it on many occasions.

Elections were held simultaneously in the country from 1952 to 1967

After independence, many initial elections in the country were held on the lines of One Nation One Election. In 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1967, assembly elections were held simultaneously with Lok Sabha elections. However, political developments changed in some states in between and things gradually changed. In many states, mid-term elections were also held after the government fell, due to which there was a gap in between. Now the situation is such that Lok Sabha elections are separate and state assembly elections are separate.
