The Congress party held a crucial and strategic brainstorming session in Delhi regarding Uttar Pradesh. This high-level meeting took place at 10 Janpath in Delhi, with top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in attendance. Several prominent leaders participated, including Uttar Pradesh in-charge General Secretary Avinash Pandey, State President Ajay Rai, senior leaders Pramod Tiwari, Ujjwal Raman Singh, Imran Masood, and Tanuj Punia.
Major Decisions Taken at the Meeting
According to sources, a major decision taken at today’s meeting was that the Congress will contest the upcoming Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh independently. This proposal was unanimously agreed upon. The possibility of alliances was also discussed, with several leaders emphasizing that a decision on alliances should be made well in advance, not at the last minute, to avoid organizational confusion.
Rahul Gandhi’s Instructions and Strategic Focus
During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi stated, “We have to enter the Panchayat elections with full force and determination.” He emphasized the need to strongly raise the issues of marginalized sections, backward classes, and the suppressed issues of society. Leaders were tasked with making the rally scheduled for December 14th at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan a historic and successful event. Clear instructions were given to strengthen the party from the state level down to the booth level. Leaders were also advised to keep a close watch on issues related to the electoral roll and alleged vote rigging.
Free Hand Given to State In-charge and State President
The state in-charge and state president have been given a free hand to make major decisions in the best interest of the organization. The Congress has indicated that it will aggressively highlight the anti-incumbency wave and the failures of the government among the public. By reactivating the organizational structure, the Panchayat elections will be made the first major step in the Congress’s resurgence in Uttar Pradesh.
This meeting in Delhi is not merely considered a formal discussion, but a decisive blueprint for the Congress’s Uttar Pradesh strategy. The decision to contest the Panchayat elections independently indicates that the Congress is now in aggressive mode to regain its ground in Uttar Pradesh.
