Jaipur: The designation of ‘Vice Chancellor’ in government-funded universities in Rajasthan will now be ‘Kulguru’. The Assembly passed a resolution in this regard on Thursday. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa, while responding after the discussion on the Rajasthan Universities Statutes (Amendment) Bill, 2025, said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is continuously taking important decisions in the field of higher education. He said that providing equal opportunities for education to the deprived sections is the aim of the state government.
Determined to return old glory
The Education Minister said that the state government is continuously recruiting college teachers. He said that India has been a global center of knowledge and education in ancient times, the state government is determined to return the old glory of India through education. According to the amendment, the designations of Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor in 33 funded universities of the state have been changed to Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor respectively. Dr. Bairwa said that this decision of the state government is not a formal process but an attempt to restore a great education system. He said, “This is a step taken towards making our universities a center of faith again. This will lead to the revival of the great Guru-Shishya tradition of India.”
