A bailable warrant has been issued against Bijnor District Magistrate Jasjit Kaur. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has issued a bailable warrant against the DM. The court has ordered her to appear before the court on January 5, 2026, at all costs. The court has taken strict action against DM Jasjit Kaur in a contempt case. The warrant was issued against the DM during the hearing of a petition filed by Vikram Singh of the Dhangar community.
The DM is accused of canceling a caste certificate without conducting an investigation. This allegation has deepened the DM’s crisis. The Lucknow bench of the High Court stated that the DM ignored orders. This constitutes serious negligence.
Judges furious over the DM’s absence
Justice Manish Kumar’s bench took a tough stance against the Bijnor District Magistrate and expressed displeasure over the reply sent through the Social Welfare Officer. DM Jasjit Kaur herself did not appear in court. This angered the judge. He has ordered the Bijnor District Magistrate to appear before the Prayagraj High Court before the next hearing on January 5.
What is the matter?
Vikram Singh Dhangar, a resident of Dhampur in Bijnor district, had his caste certificate revoked just eight days before his retirement. He filed a petition in the High Court challenging this order. During the hearing, the court directed the District Magistrate to resolve the matter based on previous Supreme Court rulings and after a vigilance investigation by the Social Welfare Department. It is alleged that DM Jasjit Kaur issued a unilateral order without any investigation. Vikram Singh Dhangar challenged this order and filed a contempt petition in the court. During the hearing, the court asked the District Magistrate to appear and respond, but he sent his response through the District Social Welfare Officer. Following this, the court issued a warrant directing him to appear at the next hearing.
