Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) unveiled the jerseys of all 10 franchise teams for its upcoming season during a grand ceremony held in Gwalior on Tuesday. This season is going to start from June 12 next month at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Shankarpur, Gwalior. Last year also the first season of MPL T20 was played here.
The looks of both men’s and women’s teams were presented in the grand jersey unveiling ceremony for MPL. Apart from the players involved in the league, officials of all the teams and many eminent personalities from across the state also attended this ceremony.
Increase in the number of men’s teams in the league
This time the number of men’s teams has been increased from 5 to 7 in the spectacular 20-20 over cricket league organized by Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. This time teams from Bundelkhand and Chambal regions will join the league for the first time.
For the first time from this season, a women’s cricket league is also being started, which will be organized along with the men’s matches. For the first time, 3 teams will participate in the women’s competition, including the team from Bhopal.
Indication of the start of an exciting season: Scindia
On the jersey unveiling of the teams involved in the league, Chairman Mahanaryaman Scindia said, “The success of the jersey unveiling is a sign of the start of an exciting season. Seeing the immense success of the first season and the enthusiasm of this season, it would not be wrong to say that the Madhya Pradesh League has become a celebration of cricket talent and regional pride.”

He also said, “This time we are not only expanding the league, but also starting a women’s competition, which reflects our ideology and commitment towards the game.”
Men and women teams playing in the league
Taking the discussion forward, GDCA President Prashant Mehta said, “We are very excited about Madhya Pradesh League Season 2. The jerseys of all the teams reflect their region and spirit and we are confident that like the last season, this year is also going to be very explosive. We hope that this time too we will be able to find some new talents.”
The men’s teams included in the Madhya Pradesh League are Gwalior Cheetah, Jabalpur Royal Lions, Bhopal Leopards, Indore Pink Panthers, Rewa Jaguars, Chambal Gharials and Bundelkhand Bulls. Apart from this, the names of the teams included in the women’s league are Chambal Gharials, Bhopal Wolves and Bundelkhand Bulls.
