The latest issue is about KYC (Know Your Customer) verification of Fastags of four-wheelers. A harsh order from the government has put every four-wheeler owner in trouble. As per the order, every vehicle owner will have to get the KYC verification of Fastag of his vehicle done. For this he will have to go to the concerned bank, business facility center or go through the difficult process of online verification himself. Most of the people are unable to work online and banks do not yet know its procedure. Many banks do not even have additional staff. After many defeats, vehicle owners will have to go to private service centers and spend money to get the verification done.
Not only this, if Fastags are not verified by January 31, Fastags will be put in the blacklist. The money deposited in it will also be confiscated. And from the very next day, double toll tax will have to be paid at toll plazas. This is blatant plunder and oppression of the public.
The government, which is not able to recover the money from the absconding fugitives by taking money from the banks, is recovering that money from the general public by adopting various new tactics. This is the government of the same party which had shown promise in ending the Inspector Raj and loosening the legal restrictions.
Dr. Girish has demanded immediate cancellation of this Tughlaqi decree so that vehicle owners can be saved from robbery and wastage of time. If the government does not cancel this scheme with immediate effect, it may have to face strong resistance from vehicle owners and drivers. CPI also expresses strong resistance to this and will continue to raise its voice against it as much as possible.
