The South-East district of Delhi Police, under ‘Operation Milap’, has reunited hundreds of families by finding missing children and individuals.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police’s South-East District has once again proven its commitment to the safety of vulnerable children and missing persons through its hard work, coordination, and sensitivity. Under ‘Operation Milap’, the district police have conducted several successful operations, reuniting hundreds of families with their missing members.

On the instructions of Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, the police team, under the supervision of DCP Hemant Tiwari of the South-East district, has been continuously engaged in finding missing children and individuals. Their vigilance, patience, and excellent coordination with various agencies have led to several heartwarming stories.

Police from different police stations did commendable work
Recently, the Badarpur police station received a complaint on September 11, 2025, that two minor brothers had been missing since the morning of September 10. The police immediately registered an FIR and started an investigation using CCTV footage. The investigation revealed that the children were roaming around New Delhi Railway Station and had boarded the Jalpaiguri-Amritsar Express train. The police team, in collaboration with the GRP and RPF, checked CCTV footage from stations like Ghaziabad, Bareilly, and Varanasi. Finally, late on October 1, 2025, both brothers were safely recovered from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. This success was achieved through discreet inquiries at bus stands, shelter homes, and religious places.

The Shaheen Bagh police station also reunited a missing minor with his family under ‘Operation Milap’. Appreciating the police’s efforts in this case, a statement said, “We wholeheartedly appreciate the swift, professional, and compassionate efforts made by the Delhi Police, Shaheen Bagh Police Station, in finding the missing child and safely reuniting him with his family under Operation Milap. Their dedication and teamwork are truly commendable.”

The Jaitpur police station traced a 20-year-old missing woman. The team adopted a thorough investigation, inter-state coordination, and a humane approach, which led to the reunion of the missing woman with her family. The police were praised with the following statement: “I wholeheartedly commend the swift, meticulous, and tireless efforts of the police station in Jaitpur, South-East District, in locating the missing 20-year-old girl. The team’s thorough investigation, prompt action at the inter-state level, and humane approach led to the safe recovery of the girl and her reunion with her family.”

Badarpur Police Station displayed commendable vigilance upon receiving information about an abandoned 7-year-old girl. Through community outreach, coordination with RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations), nearby police stations, and local mosques, the team successfully traced the family under Operation Milap and safely reunited the child with her parents.

Sunlight Colony Police Station located a 4-year-old child within 2.5 hours through CCTV analysis. The mother expressed her gratitude for the police’s swift action, saying, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Delhi Police, Sunlight Colony Police Station, for reuniting me with my missing 4-year-old child. The police acted immediately and analyzed several CCTV footages. Within two and a half hours of filing the complaint, the police team found my missing child.”

Lajpat Nagar Police Station reunited a 10-year-old child, who went missing in the crowded Central Market, with his family through a massive search and swift action. Praising the police, the child’s mother said, “Many thanks to the Pink Booth police personnel of Lajpat Nagar Police Station who found my lost child in the huge crowd of Central Market. Their quick action and thorough search proved extremely helpful in reuniting me with my 10-year-old child.”

In another case, the police team contacted the hostel authorities and reunited a girl with her father, earning much praise for their vigilance and coordination. The family praised the police, saying, “We wholeheartedly appreciate the vigilance, patience, and excellent coordination of the police team. They found our child very quickly, conducted a thorough investigation, spoke to the school and hostel authorities, and safely reunited my child with the family. The police did a great job and showed how professional and compassionate they are.”

The figures for 2025 and 2026 tell a success story.
According to the records of the South-East district, a total of 1,691 (431 minors and 1,260 adults) missing or kidnapping cases were reported in 2025. Under ‘Operation Milap’, 1,200 people (350 minors and 850 adults) were successfully traced and reunited with their families. Since January 2026, a total of 146 cases have been reported (53 minors and 93 adults). Of these, 101 people (38 minors and 63 adults) have been traced. This success was achieved through intensive investigation, technical surveillance, coordination with the Railway Police, Child Welfare Committee, Childline, and ground-level searches. These figures and stories demonstrate the proactive approach of the South-East district and the effectiveness of ‘Operation Milap’.
