Srinagar police on Thursday installed a QR code-based accountability and feedback system, centres of which are being set up in all police stations of the district. This will allow common people to scan the QR code and give feedback as well as information to the police. Talking to reporters during an awareness programme on new criminal laws, Srinagar Senior Superintendent of Police Imtiyaz Hussain said that the system will allow residents to share feedback and tell their expectations from the police.
He said that if any changes are required, it will be implemented accordingly. As needed and people get feedback. Further action will be taken accordingly.
Initiative to provide fair and speedy justice
The SSP said that peace in Kashmir has come after countless sacrifices. He said that in the last 35 years, terrorism and other issues have caused a lot of suffering. However, due to the efforts of the Center, Jammu and Kashmir government, police and local people, we have successfully created an atmosphere of peace. Now, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect this peace.
He also said that through the new criminal laws, the government aims to provide “independent and speedy justice” and make the criminal justice machinery, including the police, judiciary and prosecution, accountable.
Debate competition on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
On the other hand, in a concerted effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on society, the police in Handwara organised a debate competition on the theme Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Handwara.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of students who expressed their views on the growing threat of drug addiction, its adverse effects on the youth and the collective responsibility of society in eradicating this menace. The speakers emphasised the importance of education, parental guidance and stringent law enforcement in achieving a drug-free India.
The event was attended by senior police officers, school teachers and distinguished guests who lauded the students for their thought-provoking speeches. The best performers were awarded certificates and trophies as a token of appreciation of their efforts.
A senior police officer while addressing the gathering reaffirmed the commitment of the police to combat drug abuse and urged the youth to actively contribute in spreading awareness. He assured that such initiatives will continue to educate and empower young minds against drug abuse.
