The Transport Department of the Delhi Government has taken a major step to strictly control pollution and issued a public notice warning

If you live in Delhi and own a diesel car that’s 10 years old or a petrol car that’s more than 15 years old, this move by the Delhi government is going to increase your troubles. The Delhi government’s Transport Department has now decided that any such vehicles found on the roads will be seized and scrapped without notice.

The Delhi Transport Department issued a public notice on February 14th, warning that any old vehicle parked or running on the roads will be scrapped without prior notice.

According to the Delhi government, this move aims to strictly enforce air pollution standards in Delhi. Under these standards, diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years fall into the End of Life (EOL) category.

To avoid this action, the Delhi Transport Department has issued a notice urging owners of old vehicles to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and move their vehicles out of Delhi.

What does the notice say?
The Delhi Transport Department’s notice stated, “Old vehicles compliant with BS-III and low emission standards plying in public places in Delhi will be seized and scrapped without prior notice, as per the law. Owners of such vehicles are advised to obtain a NOC before moving them outside the NCR.”

Campaign to Remove Old Vehicles
The Transport Department will soon launch a campaign to remove old (EOL) vehicles from Delhi. This will trigger a large-scale crackdown on old vehicles in the capital.
