At the order of US President Donald Trump, the US military has launched a major military operation against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria. The operation has been named Operation Hawkeye Strike. This operation is in retaliation for the ISIS attack in Palmyra on December 13, in which two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed.
US Attacking ISIS Strongholds – Trump
US President Donald Trump wrote on social media, “Brave American patriots were brutally murdered by ISIS in Syria. I am announcing that the United States is taking very serious retaliatory action against the responsible terrorist killers. We are hitting ISIS strongholds in Syria very hard. This place is blood-soaked and has many problems. If ISIS is eliminated, its future will be bright.”
Attacks Will Be Stronger Than Before – Trump
Trump also said, “The Syrian government, led by a man who is working very hard to bring greatness back to Syria, is fully supportive. All terrorists who are so evil as to attack Americans are warned. If you attack or threaten the United States in any way, you will be hit harder than ever before.”
Syrian Government Supports US
The US’s Operation Hawkeye Strike is aimed at eliminating ISIS in Syria and protecting American soldiers. The new Syrian government (led by Ahmed al-Shara) has also supported it.
