ED: With Bihar Nitish Kumar changing sides, questions are being raised on the opposition India alliance. Nitish Kumar had played an important role in uniting the opposition leaders, but now he has joined the ruling party NDA at the Centre. On the other hand, three big opposition leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav, Hemant Soren and Bhupendra Hooda are on the target of the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED. At present these three opposition leaders are making rounds of the ED office. Lalu Yadav’s party RJD and Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha are also included in the opposition India alliance.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Patna on Monday in the alleged land-for-jobs scam case. Till the time of writing the news, ED team in Patna was interrogating Lalu Yadav. Lalu Yadav reached ED office at around 11 in the morning. ED’s questioning of Lalu Yadav is taking place at a time when he had parted ways with the government of Bihar just a day before. According to sources, the ED team had asked 40 questions to Lalu Yadav. ED has a list of 50 questions. Initially, when Lalu Yadav reached the ED office, he had to wait for about an hour. After this ED officials started interrogating him.
ED has filed charge sheet in the court
The alleged Land for Job scam dates back to the time when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was in power in the country. The CBI was the first to crack down on this matter, after which the Enforcement Directorate is investigating the money laundering allegations. On January 9, ED has also filed a charge sheet in this case in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. Taking cognizance of ED’s charge sheet, the court has issued summons to many people including Lalu Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and called them for appearance.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also on ED radar
On the other hand, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is also on the radar of ED. ED, which is investigating allegations of money laundering in the land scam, has called Hemant Soren for questioning between January 29-31. ED has issued summons to Hemant Soren for the tenth time. Hemant Soren had reached Delhi on Saturday, so ED was hopeful that he would appear before the authorities today, but initially no trace of him was found.
Soren will appear before ED on January 31
Later, when the ED team reached his residence in Delhi, the Chief Minister was not found there, after this a team also went to Jharkhand Bhawan, but Hemant Soren was not found there either. The ED team was searching for CM Hemant when it received a mail from the Chief Minister’s residence. According to sources, it has been said in the mail that Chief Minister Hemant Soren will appear before the investigating agency on January 31. It is also being said that Hemant Soren, who reached Delhi, also met Supreme Court lawyers Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal. You yourself can understand what could be the reason behind this meeting.
Bhupendra Singh had also reached ED office
Now let us also talk about the third big leader of the opposition, Bhupendra Singh Hooda. Bhupendra Singh Hooda is the former CM of Haryana and currently he is also making rounds of the ED office. Hooda is accused of alleged irregularities in land acquisition in Manesar during 2004-2007. ED is investigating the money laundering case in this. Hooda also reached the ED office in Delhi on Monday where he was interrogated. It is being told that this is the second time in the last two weeks that ED was interrogating Hooda.
Bhupendra Singh Hooda is accused of colluding with bureaucrats and officials in land deals. Land owners and farmers have alleged fraud of more than Rs 1500 crore in this case. After the FIR was lodged by the Haryana Police, in 2021, the ED had registered a case against the former CM under the Money Laundering Act. If seen this way, these three big opposition leaders in Bihar, Jharkhand and Haryana are making rounds of the ED office.
Opposition alleges government is forcibly harassing leaders
The opposition says that in view of the Lok Sabha elections, the central government is deliberately targeting the opposition leaders. The government is afraid of the India alliance, hence it wants to keep the opposition leaders implicated in the ED and CBI investigation. Lalu Yadav himself has said many times that he is not afraid of ED investigation. The government is trying to scare but they will continue to raise their voice against BJP and NDA.
