IndiGo flight number 6E6271 from Delhi to Goa made a complete emergency landing in Mumbai after one of its engines failed. The pilot immediately showed presence of mind and raised the alarm after which the flight was landed safely and as a precaution, the flight was landed at Mumbai airport. An IndiGo spokesperson issued a statement saying that on July 16, 2025, while flying from Delhi to Manohar International Airport, Goa, a technical fault was detected in flight number 6E 6271.

The spokesperson said that after due procedures, as soon as the fault was detected, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. However, the aircraft will undergo necessary checks and maintenance before resuming operations. An alternate aircraft has been arranged to ensure that the passengers do not face any inconvenience and complete their journey. The passengers will be dispatched shortly by the alternate aircraft. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this unforeseen situation. At IndiGo, the safety of customers, crew and the aircraft is of paramount importance.”
Engine failed mid-air, pilot raised alarm
According to sources, after taking off from Delhi, one of the engines of the aircraft failed mid-air, following which the pilot immediately reported it and then sought permission for an emergency landing in Mumbai. After the emergency alarm was raised at 9.25 pm on Wednesday, full emergency protocols were implemented at the airport, fire tenders and ambulances were kept on standby and then the flight landed safely at 9.42 pm. All the crew members and passengers of the flight are safe.
