Three people were killed and one injured passenger is being treated at JJ Hospital after being hit by a local train near Sandhurst Road railway station in Mumbai.

A tragic train accident occurred in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on Thursday. Four passengers were seriously injured after being hit by a local train near Sandhurst Road Railway Station. Three of them died. One is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The accident was reported around 7 p.m. Upon receiving the information, the railway department was shaken and rescue operations were immediately initiated.

The incident occurred near pole number 2/418 near Sandhurst Road Railway Station. The motormen at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) suddenly went on strike, causing panic. During this time, some passengers landed on the tracks, resulting in a major accident.

Four passengers were seriously injured after being hit by a local train. All the injured passengers were immediately rushed to the nearby JJ Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, doctors declared two of them dead, while one passenger died during treatment.

Three killed in accident
Regarding the incident, Dr. Shweta, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer, stated that three people died in the accident. Another passenger was seriously injured and is being treated at JJ Hospital. According to reports, the passengers are admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. A team of doctors is constantly monitoring them.

Immediately following the accident, the railway administration took the matter seriously and launched an investigation. Efforts are also being made to determine the circumstances under which the passengers were hit by the train. Upon receiving information about the incident, senior officials from the Railway Police and related departments arrived at the scene and inspected the scene.

Investigation Ordered
The investigation into the entire incident has been assigned to an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-level officer of the Railway Police. Meanwhile, passenger organizations have raised the question: when will action be taken against the motormen who protested without permission at CSMT station? According to sources, the ongoing tension between Central Railway and Railway Police after the FIR registered against the engineers in the Mumbra accident could also be a reason behind today’s incident.
